ANALISIS FAKTOR MOTIVASI DAN SIKAP SERTA BUDAYA KESELAMATAN PASIEN DALAM PELAKSANAAN SURGICAL SAFETY CHECKLIST

Abstract

The surgical safety checklist (SSC) is a communication tool for the surgical team in the operating room for patient safety. SSC implementation is influenced by several factors, such as motivation, attitude, and patient safety. According to Minister of Health Regulation No. 17 of 2017, SSC implementation must be 100%. A preliminary study of 10 nurses in the operating room of Syamrabu Regional Hospital (RSUD Syamrabu) showed that 4 nurses routinely implemented the SSC (40%), 2 nurses occasionally implemented the SSC (20%), and 4 nurses did not implement the SSC (40%). This indicates that SSC implementation at Syamrabu Regional Hospital, Bangkalan, is suboptimal. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between motivation, attitudes, and patient safety culture with SSC implementation in the operating room of Syamrabu Regional Hospital, Bangkalan.

This study used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The independent variables were patient motivation, attitudes, and safety culture, and the dependent variable was surgical safety checklist implementation. Data collection used a questionnaire. Data were collected from the entire population of 57 operating room nurses at Syamrabu Bangkalan Regional Hospital, and the results were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. Spearman Rank analysis showed a correlation between motivation and surgical safety checklist implementation (p-value = 0.047). There was a correlation between attitude and surgical safety checklist implementation (p- value = 0.047). There was also a correlation between patient safety culture and surgical safety checklist implementation (p-value = 0.000). The hospital can provide adequate facilities and infrastructure, conduct SSC workshops/training, implement a reward and punishment system, and add SOPs for emergency surgery times for filling out SSC.
