Abstract

Nausea and vomiting are conditions that cause discomfort in the epigastrium and esophagus, which causes a gag reflex, characterized by the release of stomach or intestinal contents into the mouth. In pregnancy, this often occurs because in pregnancy there are many factors that influence the occurrence of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women due to hormonal, physiological, emotional or psychological changes. Of course, each gestational age has differences in changes in these factors or from the body's response that affects the level of hyperemesis. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between gestational age and the level of hyperemesis in pregnant women. The design of this study was cross-sectional. The population in this study were all pregnant women in a certain period of time who experienced hyperemesis at the Panasea Lumajang Main Clinic as many as 30 respondents using the total sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire on the level of hyperemesis. Based on the chi-square test, it is known that the P value is 0.000 with α 0.05. The results of this study indicate that the greater the gestational age, the level of hyperemesis will decrease compared to the early gestational age, the first trimester of gestation is the highest percentage of hyperemesis, so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between gestational age and the level of hyperemesis. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as input for pregnant women to increase knowledge about hyperemesis.
