Edukasi Senyum Sehat: Implementasi PHBS dan Pelatihan Menggosok Gigi pada Siswa SDN Bancaran 03
Abstract
Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) and proper toothbrushing habits are important preventive efforts to improve children’s health status. Observations conducted in Dusun Bancaran, Desa Leban, revealed low levels of knowledge and skills among children in implementing PHBS and brushing their teeth regularly. This community service activity aimed to improve knowledge, skills, and behavioral changes through interactive counseling, demonstrations, and direct practice. The target participants were 40 first-grade students of SDN Bancaran 03 aged 7–8 years. The activity began with a pretest to measure initial knowledge, followed by educational sessions based on guidelines from the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), demonstrations, question and-answer sessions, distribution of toothbrushes and toothpaste, and hands-on practice. Evaluation was conducted using a posttest and an observation checklist to assess skills. The results showed an increase in knowledge scores and students’ ability to practice proper toothbrushing techniques, indicating that participatory education is effective in fostering healthy habits from an early age.
